Sleepy time!
First off, I wanna say that I unironically like Beverly Hills. The city is real ass cheeks, and so is this song, but god dammit, it’s like eating pizza that you know is shitty but is still good.
As for everything after track 2, it kinda just passes by. It feels like the songs aren’t really there. They’re just blank spaces filled by formulaic Weezer music. If you remove the first two tracks, it’s a nothing album.

I'm impressed at how consistent this album is. Every single track is bad, or mediocre in some capacity. Even the best tracks maintain a certain level of shittiness. I also love how this is the longest Weezer album so far. Good joke, Rivers. Please go back to making good music.
Honestly out of all Weezer albums this is the most inoffensive...which is a really bad thing for this album because this album has anything a formulaic pop-rock album from the mid 2000s would need except...personally. Weezer are the last band in human history that should make an album with almost 0 personality, what makes half of these songs Weezer songs? Couldn't anyone else have made them?
Even at their worst with Weezer at least you could say *I don't see anyone else doing anything exactly ... read more
Make beleive?????!?!?!?! More like i will make beleive that this album is not real
(Because it is bad. The album is bad)
Rewriting my review of this album since my last one sucked.
This album is bad, yes. But it's not as initially excruciating as I experienced it. It's just very boring. I previously expressed how Beverly Hills was "one of 2 good songs on this album". Please shoot me for this opinion. It's not good at all. It's just very meh. Like the majority of this album. But it's not god-awful, which is why I have bumped up my score. Still a big miss in the weezer discography though.

I had a really great time with this on first listen. I expected it to be unlistenable, but I laughed my ass off the whole way through. And at this point, that’s all I really want from Weezer. An unintentionally hilarious album.
This is nowhere near as terrible as a lot of people say it is. Sure, if you’re looking for actual quality music, you’ll fucking despise this, but if you’re looking for a Weezer album that’s okay background music, then oh boy will this be a ... read more
"...Can't wait to see what's next for these guys! ...These guys can't possibly slip up at this rate!"
Obvious foreshadowing right there.
On Make Believe, Weezer basically throw away the qualities that made them really stand out as a band, and go down the path of Top 40 pandering pop rock. The instrumentation is a lot less unique and relies on a 4 chord structure most of the time, and the melodies are less than interesting. The choruses also consist of a lot of ... read more
I honestly wonder what Weezer fans felt like in 2005. After two classics and two more mediocre albums, Weezer finally hits their first true speedbump. But, honestly, after the disgust of Beverly Hills had washed off in the next few-ish tracks, I thought this might be another Green album, something that isn't bad, just mindlessly dull. And then "We Are All on Drugs" comes on and... yeah. This album tosses out the tiniest bit of lyrical intelligence that the previous two albums had, and ... read more
So, this was really bad. Make Believe is the fifth album by Weezer and it is their blandest album yet. I have heard one of the songs from this album, which was “Beverly Hills”, which was terrible at first in my opinion, but it is only bad now in my opinion. While Weezer (Blue Album) and Pinkerton have more of an alternative rock vibe to it, Weezer (Green Album) has more of a poppier vibe to it, and Maladroit features a heavier and grungier vibe to it, Make Believe has a really bland ... read more
edit: originally a 41. ignore the review below me, i wrote it when i was out and gave the album a half-baked listen since i kept passing out in the back of the car. Again, another famous trainwreck from Weezer, but lil' ol me comes with the voice of reasoning, somewhat. The album maintains it's aesthetics of pop-rock radio mainstream thing for Rivers to appeal to a more mass audience. It indeed worked since the album really blew up. Pretty much, this album is a test of patience that I can bet ... read more
LEAVE WEEZER ALONE!!!!! 😭😭😭
Yeah Make Believe isn't great but it isn't THAT bad, although there are definitely some questionable songs on here. Also I will forever be a Beverly Hills defender sorry not sorry
Weezer becomes everything that people make fun of them for.
Standout Tracks: Perfect Situation, This Is Such A Pity
i never want to listen to this album again. it was boring and uninspired and just didnt match up to what was in weezer's previous discography. the intrumentals were repetitive and tedious, and at least three of the hooks consisted of "oh oh oh oooooohhh oh oh" and no real words. nothing was new, and the only song i could go back to is beverly hills, and even that makes me cringe.
least fav tracks: this is such a pity, we are all on drugs, my best friend
What Happened To Weezer: Part 5
This is the part of the series I was dreading to talk about. This album is one of three albums where I just see hate get thrown at this album. We'll talk about the other two much later. I'm gonna be honest, when I first heard about the hate towards this album I stayed far away from it until like two years ago. So, is this album is actually good? No, it's really not good. But first, let's some positive things out of the way. I really enjoy "Perfect ... read more
WEEZER | CHAPTER FIVE
So this will probably be the shortest review for a Weezer album I ever do, but that’s because wow this album is really bad. So bad in fact that for the first time ever in a discog dive I only listened to said record once. It starts out boring but pretty decent then just descends into different levels of awfulness and cheapness and it just has such a lack of personality. I only like Beverly Hills.

Yes, this is awful. Yes, there are moments that are just unbearable. But really, this is harmless, and better than I expected. It's just so long and every song is exactly the same with the exception of the few that are just obnoxious. It's trite, it's messy, it's immature, but it's not unlistenable.
Am I going insane? I’ve heard bad things about this record, and I saw that the scores were pretty low before heading in. But I proceeded with an open mind, and I… enjoyed this? Like quite a bit?
Like don’t get me wrong, it has some bad moments on it like My Best Friend and We Are All On Drugs (which I admittedly thought was kinda dumb-fun), and while Beverly Hills isn’t the greatest song ever made, I also don’t hate it as much as AOTY does.
But honestly? ... read more
