Haven't really done a review in a while so why not this album! I don't really listen to any jazz so take all of this with a grain of salt.
Matana Roberts' Coin Coin series is always one I've found fascinating, though never had the ability to sit through 4 hours of avant garde Jazz. 'Coin Coin Chapter Two: Mississippi Moonchile' is less structured and diverse than its predecessor, yet it still highlights the incredible talent of Roberts to create perplexing and sonically inventive jazz music.
This lacked a lot of the charisma and 'rawness' that made the first coin coin chapter so fantastic and powerful.
'Coin Coin Chapter Two: Mississippi Moonchile' is less structured and diverse than its predecessor, yet it still highlights the incredible talent of Roberts to create perplexing and sonically inventive jazz music.
'Mississippi Moonchile' is definitely the installment to get lost in, with the most progressive and soothing tracks.
