After an eleven year break, KISS come back once more to continue to try and gain some sort of relevance. This time, though, they actually somewhat succeed, making an album that's very reminiscent of their '70s output and is arguably their best release since 1982's Creatures Of The Night.

Okay what the fuck, this first song is pretty good, very creative riff especially for this band. Here’s hoping the rest of the album doesn’t let me down. Great, on the second track we go right back to sounding like an even worse AC/DC but at least the chorus is a nice change of pace with the double-timed drums. It's just another batch of forgettable KISS songs but released by the time that this type of music has been dead for 20 years. At least it could've been worse, but otherwise I don't have much else to say about Sonic Boom, other than it's a forgettable batch of KISS songs that are reminiscent of their 70s work on albums like Destroyer and Love Gun, but lack that KISS fun charm that make the songs memorable.
