The AcornNo Ghost65
Based on 2 reviews What do you think? |
No Ghost is a lazy-sounding record, and it would be the perfect soundtrack for lying on a dock at the cottage on a summer’s evening. It’s probably a good thing that the band has spent the effort on its sound, because, the lyrics don’t bear much scrutiny.
The Acorn's sound is indistinct; they make pleasant, full-bodied folk rock, but their sound has a wobbly center of gravity. When they adopt the rangy slide guitar and scrap-yard percussion of Califone, like on "I Made the Law" and "Almanac", there isn't enough Acorn there to keep from the overwhelming sensation that a Califone album has unexpectedly wandered into view.
