This LP is an innovative step in Vetiver’s evolution from narrow freak folk ensemble to instrumentally tight, genre melding trailblazers.
Exploring pulsating, lush layers and pushing Cabic’s vocals to their threshold both result in The Errant Charm being an album of considerable depth.
The Errant Charm isn’t as instant as its predecessor, but the quality of Cabic’s songwriting which underpins the entire operation ensures that this formula pays off after repeated listens.
It may be smooth, but a closer examination of what is going on reveals profound variations.
It remains a pleasant listen, perhaps just a bit too subliminally so for its own good.
Cabic and Monaghan deliver an album of relaxed, low-definition loveliness, and it's hard to begrudge them that.
