If you are searching for a sunshine-fuelled pop album for the summer, then your search is at an end.

OK, singer Mark Foster’s voice occasionally grates, and ‘Don’t Stop’ sounds a little too much like a bad Passion Pit cast-off. But otherwise, this is a feel-good hit of the summer.

Consequence of Sound

Though Torches is a ready-made summer album, its staying power is questionable.

Drowned in Sound

You can’t shake the feeling that Foster has simply stretched the party vibe over as many songs as he can before the momentum runs out.

Far from the worst pop album I've heard, but is just very generic. Each song lacks an individual vibe. By the end of the album you are wondering was that really it?

Used to be super into the infectious, hook-based pop, but it has most definitely grown stale overtime. Fun sometimes though

Who are these guys? Did they make themselves? Were they manufactured? Who knows. All I know is they centered around the name of the lead singer, Mark Foster, and they were the perfect display of indie pop, which resonated with fun, creative production, as well as deep and thoughtful lyrics inside the shell. Heck, their most popular song was a melancholy product detailing a school shooter over a catchy, memorable chorus.

The promising debut of Foster the People is a seamlessly flawless collection of thoughtful ballads and dark undertones disguised behind what sounds like a myriad of summery, feel-good singles.

best tracks: call it what you want, color on the walls, waste, i would do anything for you, houdini, warrant, broken jaw, pumped up kicks
