Returning back to the year 2011 and revisiting some of the best albums that year had to offer, I stop here at Dum Dum Girls and wonder what it would have been like to listen to this album back when it first released. The album is slow in disposition, but at the same time, it is very haunting and contemplative.
I grew up as a little girl in the early 2010s with a very skewed perception of what a hit was compared to my peers in school. My parents only ever played the student radio station which primarily rotated indie music, the only pop music they played via their personal record/CD collections was from the 80s or earlier, the only modern pop music I heard was in small rebellious snippets through the TV or if friends of mine introduced me to anyone.
