What Gallagher has done with Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds is dust off a little unrealized Oasis material and combine it with new songs that are bounded by the artist’s natural mid-tempo territory.
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds is the sound of a man who has been let loose of the shackles of his old band, but is not entirely sure what to do with this new found freedom.
What you are left with are 10 largely freewheeling tracks that neither amaze nor appal.
If the emotional power of anthemic rock is quickly draining, Gallagher remains among the best conductors of the fumes.
