The music on Wave Like Home is appropriate for either dancing in a gritty underground party or making out with your new squeeze for a few minutes before your mom arrives in the Volvo and picks you up.
Rough mixing, raw appeal.
The vocals are quite intriguing. It's like.. a Folk singer trying to do Post-Punk on a Synthpop production. It is pretty odd and ill-fitting when you really focus on it, almost doesn't work. However, I think it so odd and ill-fitting it goes full circle and it actually works great. It's a curious combination of a passionate performance of sorta down Blues-like lyrics back dropped by damn near overwhelming synths, a groovy bass guitar, and simple drums.

well, this is a great surprise. I love to hear a Future Islands more rough sound and not so poppy (which i also love from them), remembering a tiny bit of modest mouse in terms of roughness ig.
and the synths make my head feel like is spinning.
Why dont people like this more?
