I mean…it was better than the last one!
Three albums into the Animal Collective discography, and they’ve been inconsistent so far. I loved their debut record because of the emotional impact it had on me, not to mention the very high points in that album. I didn’t like their second album because it was a chore to go through, and it sounded like someone got drunk and tried to squeeze a pile of shit through a strainer.

Oh my god fuck yes campfire time campfire time. This is a huge improvement over their last record in my eyes. While it’s not my favorite AnCo release or anything, I could honestly see this growing me because this is a VIBE. Very meditative experience. It’s 1 dimensional with the repetitive guitar riffs. It’s still quite beautiful.
Compared to the last weird work, this one is positively slow and lush - very pretty. Not usually my cup of tea but they have nice melodies throughout, which makes the slow pace feel contemplative and warranted. It's too nice of a record for me to simply call it "fine".
