What Ugly lacks in innovation is more than made up for in unique vocals and excellent music 

Indie rock albums with this uniquely developed a voice don’t come around often, especially not when it’s this much fun.

Ugly is so rich, so dense, so full that you forget there’s just three of them.

Ugly puts a newfound emphasis on songcraft and sustained momentum. 

The release finds the New Jersey trio ... exploring not only space-filling arrangements that are impressive for the lean band, but also hard-hitting and catchy tracks.

There’s a real sense of purpose to the way Screaming Females realize their ambition and potential on Ugly.

Without knowing it, I've been waiting for more than a few years for this album to come along. Since the end of Sleater-Kinney, there's been a void for me in new music of bands that really rock in a satisfying way. Not that this album sounds anything like S-K, but it does hit all of the pleasure areas that I like in a rock record. It will grow on you if you give it a chance and soon you'll be amazed at how it drills its way into your mind.
