Even at its most novel-- and there are a lot of firsts here for Scuba-- you can still hear the same grumbly, bearded guy behind the beats.
While Personality is worthy of praise for its feverous energy and detailed, hot-iron arrangements, there isn’t a lot to make the album really stick.
This is dancefloor ecstasy as a brutal, serious business.
While attempting a transition to make floor fillers without abandoning his trademark sound, we find Scuba standing awkwardly with one foot in either camp, and it makes for a listen that feels incomplete.
