What could have turned out to be a risky step in another direction for S.Carey has turned out to be a stroke of brilliance
Hoyas expresses a fascination with the relationships between the synthetic and organic, between distance and intimacy, and between folk tradition and digital vocabulary.
Hoyas sounds slick, monochromatic and even a bit stale.
It’s a hesitant musical effort, and quite forgettable when compared to Carey’s debut, All We Grow.
