Moments of spunk and cleverness, plus a number of idiosyncracies in Alex Winston’s vocals, keep King Con intermittently engaging and definitely never boring. Winston’s vocals are very distracting, however, fitting a lot of the “affected indie girl” stereotypes and often sounding annoying enough to detract from the listening experience. She shows some talent and savviness but desperately needs to iron out these peculiarities.
