The best record Orbital have made in the past 15 years and up there with their very best.
This is mainly a deep pool of blissful, sedentary festival listening.
Orbital are right back on form, sounding assured and instinctive, ready to seize the moment once again and take their music to another level.
They've managed to work within mainstream dance music's current vogue for radio-friendly track lengths without abandoning their patented crest-to-the-big-release style.
More time spent with Wonky is time getting acquainted with that old friend electronica, which takes its sweet time developing mood and melody.
The occasional glimpses of innovation just about justify its many flaws
One Big Moment - 4/5
Straight Sun - 4/5
Never - 3/5
New France [ft. Zola Jesus] - 5/5 ❤
Distractions - 5/5 ❤
Stringy Acid - 3/5
Beeledub - 3/5
Wonky [ft. Lady Leshurr] - 3/5
Where Is it Going? - 4/5
To celebrate their reformation, the Hartnoll brothers made a new album which works as a ...tourist bus: it takes you sightseeing to the most important spots without ever listening to the real heartbeat of the place.
Even for Orbital, this album is fantastically fun. It blends their signature style with more modern sound to create clever and often catchy music.
Best track: New France
Worst track: Wonky (because the vocals at the dance sections sound like a dying cat, and are utterly obnoxious)
