REVISITING KANYE WEST’S DISCOGRAPHY #7
Cruel Summer has some great highlights, but it’s not really even a Kanye album and ends up being the least essential album in his discography. While it’s a solid label album with some great posse cuts, it just is kinda forgettable.
Fav Tracks: Clique, Mercy.1, New God Flow.1, The One, Creepers
Least Fav Tracks: Higher
A very forgettable and generally boring project. This is easily Ye's worst project if you count it as one, there are barely any good tracks and the ones that are good aren't even that great. Some of the hooks on this project are also unbearable to listen. Overall not a good project.
BEST TRACKS: Mercy, Don't Like
WORST TRACKS: Clique, Higher
I genuinely enjoy most of this. Again, it’s probably because of nostalgia, but there are some pretty dope tracks. However, there is also some pop tracks that didn’t click with me much at all. But there is definitely some tracks I come back too, just not the whole project. The young Travis Scott feature on sin city is also really cool imo.
Favs: New God Flow, Mercy, Clique, Dont Like
Least Favs: To the world, Bliss, Cold, The One, Creepers
Has some really good songs but the rest were just really forgettable I really do like how Kanye did this though even though it could of turned out better it has some bangers.
Best Song: Don't Like.1 (feat. Chief Keef, Pusha T, Big Sean, Jadakiss)
Worst Song: Higher (feat. The-Dream, Pusha T, Ma$e, Cocaine 80s)
Although this album has a whole lot of good tracks, it has a lot of structural flaws and unpolished production. If they would have given it a few more days they probably would have been able to fix some of my biggest problems with the album.
Best tracks: Clique, Mercy, The Morning, Cold, Higher, Sin City
Worst tracks: To The World
To the date I'm writing this review I do feel that this is the only weak album in Kanye's discography. Kanye does pull his own weight here and ths production is good, the albums fatal flaw is the other members of G.O.O.D. Music. Aside from Pusha T and the features from some of the Wu-Tang members everyone is quite mediocre. The amount of artists and ideas here make this thing feel really unfocused and inconsistent quality wise. There are some absolute bangers here alongside extremely cringy pop ... read more
Dubious title aside, Kanye West Presents Good Music Cruel Summer by Various Artists is one of the greatest compilations of all time.
The decision to add a ".1" at the end of the name of every track that was reworked or remixed was quite charming. I'll start by going over them. Bizarrely, there's no difference whatsoever between Mercy and Mercy.1. As for the other three, New God Flow.1 features some strings that come in before a brand new verse from Ghostface Killah-- the artist who's ... read more
KANYE WEST 🗣️🗣️🗣️!!! DJ KHALED 🗣️🗣️🗣️!!!
Una compilación con unas cuantas canciones que son estúpidamente buenas, mientras que todo lo demás es bastante mediocre, Pusha T es posiblemente lo mejor del proyecto
Kind of a mixed bag. Songs like Mercy and Don't Like.1 are bangers whereas other songs aren't that strong and rely on other features to keep them entertaining. An enjoyable experience nonetheless.
DETOUR
Do you think Push suffers from lasting back problems from carrying this project so hard?
Kanye's dalliance in posse music is the very definition of ocean size, paper thin. Basically everybody that LOOKED at Kanye West in 2012 got to be on this thing. Kanye here doing a sort of Odd Future schtick, leading a collective of frequent collaborators and friends. Same exact problem as OF too: There's maybe like, 3 people that make everything worthwhile, and everything else is just filler. What ... read more
This album isn’t bad, some of the highlights are absolute bangers, but the record's main problem is just how bland, insignificant and forgettable it comes across. It lacks any real focus, the songs lack vibrant nature that made Kanye’s previous work so appealing. The album takes a giant nosedive around the 5th or the 6th track and it never recovers. In the end, only about a half of the album is even worth listening to. “Sin City” is also one of my least favorite songs ... read more
Having R. Kelly, DJ Khaled, and Members of Wu-Tang on the Same Album Sounds More Like a Fantasy than Real Life
Some great things on this project. Cool label album with nice posse collaborations, it's really cool but it's definitely the bottom of his discography.
There are some decent songs on here but it's not really anything too special. I do really like Creepers, To the world, and don't like remix alot though but besides that they feel to similar and don't stand out.
