‘Stadium-pop’ it may not be, but it certainly contains some of Bulat’s most accessible songs to date.

The Skinny
Don’t let this one slip by: Bulat is suddenly, finally, a serious contender.

The Guardian
As pain and sorrow spill from her mouth ... rhinestone-encrusted melodrama and misery cascade around her, synthesised gospel colliding with the stately majesty of Grizzly Bear or Beach House.

NOW Magazine
Bulat has the rare ability to simultaneously sing from all sides: hurt and sweet and wise.

Paste
Her deceptively delicate entreaties often give way to boisterous rhythms, an obvious reflection of bold, perhaps even brash, confidence.

Those who’ve not felt in love with Bulat’s work must give Good Advice a try. These words are their own bit of good advice.

AllMusic
If this is a pop move, it's one that's just idiosyncratic enough to prompt raised eyebrows from radio programmers and the average pop music consumer, at least on first spin.

Exclaim!
On her fourth studio album, Canadian singer-songwriter Basia Bulat's heart bursts open and out pours spirited, feel-good pop about the emotional rollercoaster that is surviving a romantic break-up.

Stunning, bubbling folk-pop with heart. Her voice is so clear and beautiful, it's almost hypnotic. This album has a timeless quality like the Natalie Prass album, and like the latter, I reckon this'll be on heavy rotation.

★★★★★: Long Goodbye

NR

An original mixture of classic Motown sounds, 1960s easy listening, and straight up modern indie pop. I'd have a hard time naming an album that sounds quite like this one. I like it a lot on first listen and it will probably continue to grow on me.
