Anna’s greatest strength is the same thing that makes or breaks most examples of popular music: solid, consistent songwriting.
At its best it’s the sound of a band shining brighter than most in recent memory. But, annoyingly for Liam Fray as well as those of us willing him on, his application for greatness needs at least one more rewrite.
Despite the band’s arena rock perspective, it does still make for a lucid listening experience. But it would have benefited from a bit more of a bite.
Icl it’s quite a mid album with nothing stand out and sounds like stuff I’ve heard before that was released before this
ANNA is so far my favourite album that Courteeners have released. It was the album that got me hooked on them and I am grateful to myself that I did as I have now seen them 3 times.
