This weird and often wonderful ride broadens the scope, painting Desiigner as a much darker rapper with his hallucinatory music just skirting on the surface of a bad trip.
Desiigner’s debut mixtape, New English, feels like a formulaic Vox instructional on how to make trap songs.
New English is so woefully derivative it almost builds itself a new vocabulary from the Lego blocks of other rappers it stands on.

The few features that I hoped would provide relief from Desiigners voice ended up just being uninteresting wallpaper (yes, even Pusha T doesn’t care for this album). The production is just standard dark, heavy trap that is shoddily put together, and the interludes are laughable attempts to make ... read more
