Beats Per Minute

The appearance of rap’s new Golden Era revivalist breed on this album seems to affirm the deeply held belief that this shit never really went anywhere in the first place without expressly saying so.

Under the Radar
Czarface is one of the best Wu-relevant projects in years.

Overall, CZARFACE has no major flaws. It’s obviously not for everyone, yet even when incorporating current critical favorites like Action Bronson and Mr. MFN eXquire, no compromises are made.

XXL
Throughout, 7L can only be described as a “Rock Beast,” as he brings a consistency and ferociousness to the CZARFACE sound that comes off best in the track of the same name.

Earmilk
Perhaps lacking in variation and narrative, the album excels more in its solid East Coast 90's production style and effortless quotables, which you may need to rewind a couple times to really value.

Wu-Tang devotees won't be disappointed.

Exclaim!
Minus all of the corny sound bites, this album undoubtedly keeps the underground renaissance sizzling.

While the songs here bang in all the ways you want, they rarely catch you off guard and they rarely tell you where they’re going.

The Needle Drop
With Czarface, rap veterans Esoteric, Inspectah Deck, and 7L unquestionably reflect the cutthroat attitude of 90s hip hop, but rarely do they convincing in recreating it.

This stuff is fine. Best song is Savagely Attack.

A solid intro, a little underrated.

CZARFACE's debut project is filled with several highlights in terms of its funky & vibey boom bap production followed with it's witty bars exchanged between 7L & Inspectah Deck and finally it's plain but simple comical storyline followed by impressive features. My only critique is the lack of variety in sound along some track runs, however besides that, I loved this album but doesn't possess the repeatability other artists in the field possess like MF Doom on this LP. Least fav tracks: ... read more

This shit bangs, instrumentally this album is amazing and the flow of the verses compliments insanely. However I will say while the superhero theme and sampling is quite endearing I wish I could same for some of the lyrics. The nerdy tone to a lot of these songs is a bit much at time and honestly is what is stopping this album from being near perfect for me.

Standout tracks were Air Em Out, Rock Beast, It's Raw, World War 4, Dead Zone and Hazmat Rap.

CZARFACE is a Wu-Tang adjacent project that sounds really clean and clearly pulls heavy influence from MF DOOM. If you're in the mood for a sample heavy comic book adventure, CZARFACE has you covered with this self-titled debut.

This album is hard to hate if you're a hip-hop head. The music is just really cool, even if it's rather simple. It features samples, classic 90s boom bap drums, and groovy flows that feel very old school. If this album was just playing in the background, you would be ... read more
