The Canadian nontet's Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven is a massive, achingly beautiful work, alternately elegiac and ferocious.

This is going to be a long one.
My first listen made me feel... disappointed. I was surfing the web on my computer whilst this was playing on my headphones. It turned out to be just unnoticeable background music.
But it's exactly as the Tiny Mix Tapes review says: "You can make it background music and not notice what's happening, then sit down with headphones on and discover everything you missed the first time".
Some time later, I was pulling an all-nighter (can't remember if I had ... read more

4 beautiful and hearty tracks that last for a good length. I recommend that you sit down and listen to this record, unbothered by anything, in its entirety because the atmosphere it creates is so dense that you can't be distracted. Arguably GY!BE's greatest release, LYSFLATH is essentially something more than music. There is no other band that can produce quite the sound of the amazing GY!BE.

At times it can be really cheesy, and totally fit the stereotype of what everyone says about post-rock. But this is one of the albums where those stereotypes came from. It's a treasure for the genre.

Pretty great album if you have the time and the mindset to be able to sit down, listen to it, and stay engaged all the way through, but as those moments are few and far between for me, I don't think I can fairly rate this any higher as the replay value is so low. Honestly I doubt I'll even listen to it again before the year is over.

But that one time I actually managed to listen through the whole album in one go... yeah, it was good.

easily one of the most experimental and abstract records that i have listened to in my lifetime. this record give me chills while going through the whole project, and that made me really go back and reflect on what i had just heard. there is nothing that sounds like this album, nothing with the same mix of sounds and instruments like this.
fav tracks: storm, sleep
