If ‘In Love’ lacks depth it’s because it’s too busy being wide-eyed with marvellous wonder, thrilled by its own discoveries. Even the hi-hats are epic. Peace are intoxicated by their own youth, and all that matters is that they’re happening NOW.
With their debut full length, Peace have made a Very Important Album.
While this debut album is made up of many different elements, they are all well executed and the final result is never less than accomplished.
Young audiences will love it, free and ignorant maybe, of the influences so apparent in Peace’s music, whilst others, those a bit more long in the tooth, will fail to understand the fuss and hype and will be tempted to dismiss the album and the band as a one off, devoid of originality.
Peace's debut album, In Love, is rife with the snotty vocals, busy percussion, and swooping guitars that were the hallmarks of Blur and the Stone Roses back in the day.
At its heart In Love is the Charlatans covering the first Smashing Pumpkins album with a smidge of Suede, a smidge of the Mondays, a smidge of Blur and a blob of Pavement.
(analbumaday day 11) nothing much to say about this album, it was a solid record with a summery feel to it. Nothing that really stood out to me which is why i'd give it a 7/10
UPDATE: I'm moving it up to 75 because the songs that I liked, slapped and I've recently found myself singing to them when I originally though they were just okay.
