On The Way Things Fall, though, they’ve dialed down the more outright aggression, and aimed more directly for pop appeal than ever before. Everything’s cleaner, smoother, and considerably less prickly.
Despite its relative smooth polish, The Way Things Fall is consistently creepy; a gothic, glitch-ridden Kraftwerk, accompanied by the vocalisation of those haunting thoughts that come to you as you’re trying to fall asleep.
They may have been away for a while, but ADULT. remain as frustratingly unloveable as ever.
ADULT. certainly have a precise understanding of their sound, but can’t seem to inject any new life into the system.
On the whole, the album makes for difficult listening and it's hard to engage with.
