On her confident, melodic major-label debut, Musgraves’ vocals are pleasingly agile, but what Same Trailer Different Park continually showcases is her writing prowess.
Musgraves has a sense of humor, too, and all of these traits add up to make Same Trailer Different Park more than a collection of songs just aiming for the country charts.

I wasn't thrilled looking at this album really, I wouldn't consider myself a country fan at all, it's a genre I normally avoid, but with Beyoncé's new country singles and opening up to more music, I realize that not all country is the stereotyped version of it that a lot of people complain about.

Not quite my music taste but it's still very enjoyable, I love Kacey's personality and showing of hopefulness throughout the album. I much preferred the deeper cuts, but songs like Merry Go 'Round are pretty funny and pull this together as a body of work. I see this growing on me very much shortly.
Pretty much the most fine Country Pop album to ever exist - the tunes are passable, the singing is on point but not super standout, and the writing is pretty middle of the road too, although she does come through with a few sharp messages about unity and taking care of yourself on songs like "Follow Your Arrow"
