From beginning to end, The Dwell presents Reynolds' sound without much of the hiss and grime of his first few releases. The result is a greater clarity of voice.
The Dwell is a dromoscopic state, a mode of being, and though it can be frustrating to succumb to, it’s an undeniably fun and strangely cerebral experience.
Reynolds is at his best when he allows his mind to wander. Many of these tracks reject closed structures in favour of unexpected twists and turns, as if several different tracks have been spliced together
The Dwell buckles under the weight of that ambition, resulting in a work that never really finds a satisfying place of its own to go.
