With no big time faux pas to be found,The Gifted is an extraordinary ‘gift’ to any hip-hop collection.
Besides being solidly built and not overstuffed at 16 tracks long, The Gifted is the fascinating sound of the life of the party growing up
Overall, The Gifted is a good album. Wale presents substance without being overly preachy, and still takes it back to the Go-Go for those who have been following him since Paint A Picture.
Matching his lyrical abilities with polished production and radio-ready hooks, The Gifted sees Wale inching towards hip-hop's upper echelon, while still exhibiting the hunger of a young MC on the rise.
Wale has lost many of the qualities that made people like him in the first place, but he's refined the elements that he's managed to retain.
While The Gifted is a solid and even enjoyable effort, we in DC can only hope that there’s more–and better–to come.
With his third album, The Gifted, Wale continues to struggle to define himself.
The problem is that Wale and his team made a really decent soul rap album without a rapper soulful enough to carry it.
Whatever survived of the brain behind Mixtape About Nothing has been permanently atrophied by luxury and laziness.
When this album was released there were some tracks that I was listening on repeat, very refreshing and dope tracks.
I still listening some of them today. 2/3 of an album are very nice, but there are some songs that just didn't fits me.
I think Wale was trying to catch what was is trend in that particularly time. Lots of producers on this one, production is very good.
My favourite features are from Sam Dew, Cee Lo Green, Ne-Yo, Rick Ross and Tiara Thomas.

Wale got tremendously mad at a major critical magazine/website for leaving him out of a year's best list. He clearly never listened to the album.
