ESGN digs new paths through rap’s hallowed grounds. It may not be the crossover success that those who ride for Gibbs would love to see, but it doesn’t diminish this excellent record.
For those hip-hop fans forever in pursuit of the latest glass-shattering bass and semi-auto mob rules, ESGN is likely 2013’s flagship release.
On any one album, he can give you pieces of Tupac, UGK, Three 6 Mafia, and blend them into a harmony that would make Bone Thugs-n-Harmony proud. And on that point, ESGN is a massive success.
It’s the sound of a rapper more than happy to maintain his narrow lane after being burned by the industry, one who's lost the ambition to leave his comfort zone, at least for the time being.

Yeah, this is new "Midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik", not for ring tone rap, but for trap.
Freddie like always has very good raps, but his delivery doesn't keep me engaged. His singing here is bad. Production here is very generic and MEDIOCORE AT BEST. Features are mostyl mediocore. Only rappers who have enev come close to Freddie are Jay Rock and Daz. Also this record is very boring.

A year before dropping his magnum opus "Piñata," Freddie Gibbs dropped this album. And it's, just okay. While good, the sound of this album doesn't stand out, it's fairly generic. However Freddie's rapping skills most of the time make up for it.
This is a nice showcase of Freddie's skills as a rapper and it's insane seeing how much he improved only a year later. ESGN itself though I'd only recommend it to huge Freddie Gibbs fans.

"ESGN - Evil Seeds Grow Naturally" marca uma fase na carreira de Freddie Gibbs, onde ele solidifica sua presença no cenário do rap. Embora o álbum demonstre o talento lírico de Gibbs e sua capacidade de narrar histórias sobre a vida nas ruas, ele carece da coesão e inovação encontradas em seus projetos mais aclamados.
Ao longo do álbum, Gibbs oferece letras afiadas e flow distintivo, retratando vividamente a dura ... read more
Freddie Gibbs’ major debut is mostly a one-note affair. There are a few heaters with catchy hooks throughout the tracklist that make for good cruising music but it’s a far cry from everything he would release afterward.
