The Districts refined sound mixed with deeper, darker lyrics brings them to a whole new artistic level. Popular Manipulations is the group’s finest opus yet.
With Popular Manipulations, the Districts make their first grand statement, setting a new bar for themselves in the process.
Popular Manipulations is a vibrant, biting and tactile slice of the inspiring power of indie rock.
Popular Manipulations, The Districts’ third and newest album, takes [A Flourish and a Spoil's] highlights—beefy guitar tones, disarming vocals and stories specific and sometimes surreal—and blows them up with stronger and more varied songwriting, sharper production, and crisper mixing.
Consistently emotionally strong and sonically impressive, the true test of their strength usually falls into arrangements and writing. On a record that works more than it doesn’t however, it’s usually more of a shame that the flat songs feel so empty.
While their contemporaries continue to channel the intricate guitar tapestries of late 90’s emo, The Districts sound more like a mainstage festival act from the mid-2000s, possessing a widescreen theatricality that recalls bands like The Editors or The Killers circa Sam’s Town.

There are certain times where 0.001% of a song has played and you go "oh yeah, this is a banger." "Salt" did that do me which lead me to this beautiful album. it's perfect in my eyes :')
