A sliver above 2011's hit Here I Am, this one shows that even when she's going through hell, Rowland steps out with sure footing, a girl-next-door who belongs on top.
She sings about what she knows, pushing for truth and trust in relationships. More importantly, she realizes that she’s got the power to walk away and protect herself when these things no longer exist.
Unsurprisingly, its makeup is quite similar to that of Rowland's previous release.
Considering her career so far, this is super cool, contemporary grown-up R&B that shows just how far Rowland has come.
Talk a Good Game is by no means brilliant, but it’s really not as bad as people may expect.

Talk a Good Game sees Kelly returning to a more typical R&B sound but it sounds slick and fresh. Her voice goes smoothly through the production and it's definitely a cohesive body of work. The only thing that stops it from being better than her last release is the fact that there aren't as many highlights but this record proves that Kelly still has it. Talk A Good Game is Kelly Rowland's most cohesive album yet. Every track on here feels like it's from this album. The overall sound is very reminiscent of Motivation from her last album. I think the album is also Kelly at her best lyrically, especially on the track Dirty Laundry. Overall, this is definitely Kelly Rowland's best album.
