Sketches Of Brunswick East is the band’s mellowest outing since 2015’s Paper Mâché Dream Balloon.
Their third and greatest album of 2017 so far, Sketches of Brunswick East is brimming with lush, psych-jazz melodies and quintessential Gizzard quirks.
Though it feels natural to let these chilled passages float into the background, this is an album that rewards intent listening and obsessive fans.
Gotta agree with Fantano on this, King Gizzard does indeed make an album with Mild High Club
It's a cool little detour for the band that strives to accomplish everything, and certainly stood out in their 5 album releases of 2017 as something that sounded pretty distinctly different. They honestly don't sound too out of their element on here, pulling off the jazz-rock vibe decently well with some fun microtonal moments snuck in for good measure. REVISITED: King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - 11/23
With "Sketches of Brunswick East", KG&TLW have come together with Mild High Club to create a short but (supposedly) sweet psychedelic jazz-rock experience, and the result is sadly a total mess.

This is a cozy cozy cozy album. Grab a blanket. Get some tea and play some boardgames or something.
Really unremarkable. Like seriously forgettable. Nothing compelling, nothing interesting, just some noises that kind of work sometimes. At least with their other more middling efforts it felt like they were going for something, but here there's just no direction or nuances.
