AllMusic
It proves to be a winning combination all around, with Brettin's warped pop sensibilities mingling nicely with the sonic exploration that the lads of Gizzard do so well.

Clash
A fluid, effortless and absorbing listen, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard aren’t just one the industry’s most prolific bands, they are also one of the world’s best.

Sketches Of Brunswick East is the band’s mellowest outing since 2015’s Paper Mâché Dream Balloon.

Pitchfork
The whole album has a casual, freewheeling vibe, but it’s a testament to King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard’s unity that it holds together so well.

Their third and greatest album of 2017 so far, Sketches of Brunswick East is brimming with lush, psych-jazz melodies and quintessential Gizzard quirks.

Loud and Quiet

Though it feels natural to let these chilled passages float into the background, this is an album that rewards intent listening and obsessive fans.

Uncut
Even at its most languid, this album retains a faintly manic, frazzled quality that prevents it from descending too far into retro pastiche.

Gotta agree with Fantano on this, King Gizzard does indeed make an album with Mild High Club

It's a cool little detour for the band that strives to accomplish everything, and certainly stood out in their 5 album releases of 2017 as something that sounded pretty distinctly different. They honestly don't sound too out of their element on here, pulling off the jazz-rock vibe decently well with some fun microtonal moments snuck in for good measure. The performances are expectedly kind of lackadaisical and the vocal timbres have been adjusted a bit to fit in. The lizard in the group's name ... read more

REVISITED: King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - 11/23

With "Sketches of Brunswick East", KG&TLW have come together with Mild High Club to create a short but (supposedly) sweet psychedelic jazz-rock experience, and the result is sadly a total mess.

Look, I can definitely respect the band for trying something like this out, but I seriously did not have fun with this album. Although it's only 36 minutes long, it feels like it takes ages to finish, the production being a key ... read more

This is a cozy cozy cozy album. Grab a blanket. Get some tea and play some boardgames or something.

Do not understand why this is so lowley rated.

Favourite track - Tezeta.

Really unremarkable. Like seriously forgettable. Nothing compelling, nothing interesting, just some noises that kind of work sometimes. At least with their other more middling efforts it felt like they were going for something, but here there's just no direction or nuances.

Favourite Song: The Spider and Me

Best: Countdown, Tezeta, Sketches of Brunswick East II

Worst: The Book
