There Is No Love in Fluorescent Light is the sound of a band that know themselves. Stars speak to the truths we grapple with, and the internal nature of our emotional experiences. It's a gift to hear this realized.
If 2012’s The North was a cautious return to form and 2014’s No One Is Lost had some fun with it, then There Is No Love in Fluorescent Light finds the band with their feet on the streets and their heads scraping the sky, just where they belong.
There Is No Love in Fluorescent Light is a strong album from a band that is clearly in their comfort zone. Hopefully, longtime fans will be satisfied with the record. If nothing else, it’s inspired me to finally dig into the band’s back catalog and see what I’ve been missing for all these years.
There Is No Love in Fluorescent Light is an album on rails, sticking solidly to the tracks with never a thought of deviation. It's also a route we've travelled many times by now. Yes, it looks familiar, but it'll still get you there in the end.
While There is No Love in Fluorescent Light isn’t much of an improvement over their last few records, it does have enough flashes of brilliance to prove there’s still a good band beneath the layers of synth and lacklustre lyrics that make up the album’s 12 tracks.
I enjoyed this album more than I expected, charm and sweet songs.
Fav Songs: Fluorescent Light, Alone, The Maze, California, I love That Name. I really liked the sound of this band.
