By distilling everything they have worked towards into a blistering blues/rock amalgam White Denim feel like they’re operating at the pinnacle of their creative powers.
All this crate digging investigation ultimately proves fruitless as White Denim transcend all these influences to create something that is simply them.
Though not as abrasive as they once were, White Denim still uses frenetic youthful energy to make truly exciting music—even while growing up.
Regardless of the musical ingredients that went into this album, Corsicana Lemonade is their most down-home batch of sweet southern brew yet.
In many ways Corsicana Lemonade, sounds very much like ‘typical’ White Denim, just that as a band and as people they’ve got older and written a set of songs that showcases their tighter, more controlled side.
I can’t shake the feeling that it’s a record made by someone who’s read about rock, but never listened to it. Technically, it’s well executed. There’s just nothing extra.
