Synthesis doesn't feel like a holding pattern: It feels like the start of a new chapter.

can't help myself. I'm a sucker for Amy Lee's voice and it still gives me the frisson. something about this music still has that sort of backwoods, redneck gothic thing going on around the edges, but it now sounds more refined and polished (in a good way). the remakes are brilliant. this is her peak artistic statement and it stands up pretty well.

It's really good they took out the cliche guitar arrangements and replaced by an orquestra with electronic beats. This made some songs more polished and clean.
