Maybe the strongest first-listen experience I've had all year... enough that I immediately gave it a second listen. Such a warm, inviting sound palette.... I'd describe it as somethig like "Vignetting the Compost" (Bibio) meets "Yellow House" (Grizzly Bear). What an amazing sound and album!

This collab is right in my sweet spot honestly, Late to the Flight and Curse of the Contemporary are among my favorite songs of the year. Such a great, unexpected project from her and so different from her regular sound. I hope it isn't a one off.
Rival Consoles - Persona

Resident Advisor seems to hate Rival Consoles... I'm really curious to see if they finally come around. He has definitely kept up the progression. I actually think I like it better than Nils' latest. As noted by AllNeed75, we really are lucky to have Erased tapes.

Had to edit my rating upward because I'm still listening to this. I love this album so much; a masterpiece as far as I'm concerned.

It is simultaneously accessible and atypical, and that is something to cherish in music. What can I say, if I made a "decade list" today, this would surely be in the top 15.

Laura Marling - Semper Femina

I might be rating it a bit higher than my first impression because it really feels like something of a culmination for her--she evolves SO elegantly on every album. Also, the lead track is freaking glorious.

Stylistically, I think I preferred where she was at on Once I Was an Eagle, especially what she was doing with seamless transitions between the first four tracks.
