Beach House - Thank Your Lucky Stars

Would've called myself "roughsong" back then if not for coming across Siberian Breaks first. Watch the silent movie Lucky Star by Frank Borzage. Always thought it paired nicely with the spirit of this LP.
Kacey Musgraves - Golden Hour

The only mainstream white girl music I can truly get behind. Contains more hits and charisma than the entire careers of Taylor Swift or Lana Del Rey. It's lame but in the way a group like the Carpenters are, and I'd still consider them genius songwriters. Bad drum sound however, needs to be scrapped. Whoever's producing her new stuff as well, needs to be scrapped.
Cleo Sol - Mother

Potentially a significant LP of the 2020s. I'm reminded of greats such as Sade in that Cleo Sol feels more like a band with a very realized vision towards recording/engineering rather than just a singer and her hired team. As a simple vocal record, it stands above other contemporary works for its explorative focus on an easy on the ears sound. The "angel born in june" passage in One Day especially is unbelievably pretty. The sprawling amount of ideas also defines this, at times ... read more
The Electric Prunes - Stockholm 67

There's a sudden screech of pain-inducing noise which "activates" prominently throughout this performance. Like 95% of the time, not during an actual song, but rather inbetween while the band tunes and the singer talks to the audience. I find this very logical, important, and cool.

Very sad how little is known about this record to this day, considering the amount of this group's retrospective compilations which seem to ignore nearly all of the material on here. I've always noted this to myself as a smaller-scale, female counterpart to Pet Sounds. A clear conceptual approach towards the LP format in a genre mostly known for its disposable output. The slower cuts on here particularly, credited solely to Priscilla Paris, are brilliant mood pieces; a genius' works. A huge ... read more

Thank you for the follow back.

Felt similarly about RIP and Ghettoville on first listens, even if they're more straightforward and beat-driven than K&D. Chalk it up to being a Radiohead kid being confused about electronic music that wasn't on Warp/Ninja Tune

Yeah, it's smoky as hell and maybe his most oblique? Definitely need to revisit it, I remember rinsing the hell out of Walking Flames before the album came out
