Might have to retroactively lower my ratings of everything else I’ve heard this year because ‘The Overload’ is that much better than all of it. I figured this album would be quite good when I heard the EP and singles last year, but this blew my expectations out of the water. Yard Act dropped the best post-punk album I’ve heard in years. I’m going to be replaying this all day. Also, “Tall Poppies” is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard.

It would be kind of confusing if I didn't like this honestly. It's a fem nb-fronted screamo band that both draws on great influences whilst maintaining their own unique sound.

The particular album I was reminded most of when listening to this is Believes in Patterns by I Would Set Myself On Fire For You (which is a great record that you should also listen to if you want chamber music mixed with your screamo) with similar incorporations of violins, and other beautiful instruments not typically ... read more

"W" abandons the brutality of the previous "No", indulging in a particularly endearing Dream Pop waltz. This adventure is like a pilgrimage, in search of a peace that is primordial.

In addition to film/television and video game music, Boris is legitimately considered one of the pinnacles of Japanese music alongside Fishmans and Sheena Ringo.
