God Is in the TV

Longwave may lack a big breakthrough tune like Whitney’s ‘No Woman’ and some of the songs are overlong, but right from the gentle title track and opener to the sleepy blues of instrumental and closer ‘Walkdown’ it’s a record I will no doubt go back to again and again this year for that loose Americana fix.

Exclaim!

Bonny Doon have proven their ability to transform their complex songwriting and vivid melodies into experiences that resemble those long hours of elusive conversations we crave.

AllMusic

Bonny Doon's Woodsist label debut sticks with the ambling, Pavement-descended indie rock that has defined the quartet's sound, but makes some significant updates.

Clash

‘Longwave’ is a gently simple record but one which manages to exert an almost hypnotic pull.

Simple, beautiful, serene—wonderfully easy listening. A backwoods-sounding Real Estate. Delightful, truly.

Their approach to lyrics could be described as minimalist; more often than not, it sounds like they aren’t even trying. “Longwave” is also too repetitive, and employs too simplistic of ... read more

Very average stuff, all the musical elements here are fairly pleasant but nothing at all stands out. Tonally this sounds a lot like a Wilco record but imaginatively it's miles off. The Rolling Stones tribute was a strange thing to sit through too. Longwave would probably sound pleasing in a campfire setting but really it's just that, fine background music.
