Blackberry Smoke deserve credit for firmly committing to a style that’s long been considered uncool. Their brand of southern rock is so intensely 70s, so obviously in debt to Lynyrd Skynyrd, that I can’t help but respect the brazenness — the fact that Skynyrd hasn’t been remembered as fondly as Led Zeppelin, for instance, makes Blackberry Smoke much more appealing than, say, Greta Van Fleet.
