It’s really hard to categorize exactly what genre Caitlyn Smith’s Starfire is but there certainly a deeply rooted country sound mixed some soulful pop. Caitlyn has pretty much been a stalwart in the country music (and other genres as well) songwriting industry, penning tracks for Garth Brooks, Meghan Trainor, Kenny Rogers, among others. Starfire, however, is her first studio release as the central artist, and it really makes me wonder why she was never given a chance to record music ... read more

Isn't bad, just so boring and the same, nothing really shines here.

Smith is a lyricist above everything else. The lyrics on Starfire are filled with power, zingers, and everything in between.

Vocally, Smith could have done better. She could have opted out of the Underwood/Lambert esque belts and kept them softer, making it less strain like.

Overall, Starfire is a pretty strong album I expect to be listening to throughout 2018.

The year is very young, but this is the best album I have heard thus far. it’s a folksy tinged bluesy rompe through a field of wildflowers on a moonlit summer night. The title cut is fantastic and many other tracks such as “Do You Think About Me” and “Contact High” lend credence to her resume of penning hits for the likes of John Legend, Megan Trainor, and Dolly Parton. This is a must listen!
