A primeira faixa ... read more

2018 AOTY #47

This brief yet substantive EP announces Peggy Gou as one of the more interesting voices to show up in the house/techno scene for some time. The tracks here are tightly-wound with a decidedly classic approach to dance music, but Peggy always makes room for sticky melodies to float over top of the foundation she lays down.

Damn these Korean artists coming from the woodwork when it comes to deep house music. This is more of an engaging listen than yaeji last EP. My only grip is I wish there was more materiel.

Once is a luxuriously smooth, incredibly danceable dose of house music. The EP is stylistically consistent and maintains its vibe admirably throughout its (too short) 20 minute duration. However, the real star of this release is the previously available opener, “It Makes You Forget (Itgehane),” which I’ve had on repeat for over a month now.
