The 405

Black Milk has quietly amassed one of the finest discographies of any producer/rapper in hip hop. FEVER is the most confident he's ever sounded, taking on the ills of the world in 2018, all while managing to create a consistently groovy, laid back sound.

The Observer

Sonically this is, unsurprisingly, a masterful album: echoey, soulful and old-school. What’s more, it finally feels as if Black Milk’s rapping is catching up.

80
AllMusic

The album's title evokes the temperature and its maker's creative state. Black has so much on his mind that he allows no space for guest verses.

80
PopMatters

his poetry is dexterous and crisp, surveying the skyline of his thrumming cityscapes with a cold, clear eye. Fevers are certainly fussy and distressing afflictions, but this one here is regenerative and sobering.

75
A.V. Club

Like all of his albums, it’s good but not great, a consummate professional continuing to perfect his craft.

74
Pitchfork

His new one ... confirms he’s still a serviceable emcee prospering as a session leader with a sense of purpose.

70
Exclaim!

Black Milk has renewed his sound, proven his skill in lyricism, and displayed his depth as an artist who is proudly using his platform to discuss political issues.
