From its muted-color harmonies to its overly padded beats, much of Caroline Sallee’s witty and beautiful second album sounds like it’s trying to hide in plain sight.

A more expansive, even dreamier set, No Fool Like an Old Fool curbs some of the brightest moments of her debut, inhabiting a warm breeze, daydreams, and lingering regret.

The Skinny

Her second album ... retreats further into the shadows, an even quieter and more withdrawn affair that consolidates her sound with an emphasis on texture and atmosphere.

at times hypnotic and mesmerizing. there are some really beautiful songs on here, but it all seems just a bit unfinished.
