Lo Moon burns this soft glow, like the embers of a flame on the precipice of dying out. It’s awash in cool, electronic beats and refreshing waves of synth, but its heart – rooted unflinchingly in rock – refuses to be suffocated, letting a single flame slip through the cracks every few minutes to remind us that there’s an earthy substance beneath all of its elaborate posturing.

The atmosphere of Lo Moon, which melds gloom with instrumental experimentation and a welcome pop sensibility, has gifted listeners with a record that stands apart. It's got a glow all its own.

Melancholy atmospheres and hook-laden vocal harmonies are just part of Lo Moon's game, which they deliver flawlessly on their debut.

‘Lo Moon’ is a daring and complex debut album scored through with emotional tumult and a nuanced understanding of the groups that have inspired them.

Northern Transmissions

Though their slow-burning writing may give many something to latch onto, the lack of a standout identity leaves the album missing something.

Sadly his talent for building epic, emotive crescendos does not overshadow his shortcomings as a lyricist.

Take the sophistication out of sophisti-pop, and Lo Moon is just another L.A. indie R&B act who tries to bring us a higher love but can’t take things much further beyond bed and bath.

I think there is a lot of potential in this artist but he needs to find his own way. the two opening tracks are wonderful with rich melody and instruments, but from this point on the album gets dull and repetitive. the lyrical content is basically the same in every song and it's not that great to begin with. ... read more
It's a good album but nothing more. It"s not really disappointing or something, I wish they kept to the level they've shown on the track Loveless which is a masterpiece. The rest of the album is an enjoyable fusion of electronic and indie rock music.
