It's a comfortable collision of songs that probably won't gain many new listeners, but should find a home in real fans' collections, despite its lack of risk-taking.

Thankfully, closer ‘Goodbye Blue Sky’ is a sumptuous country swoon capable of wiping clean the record’s hoarier moments, and we end embedded once more in LaMontagne’s misty mystique. Reality? Over-rated.

Ray LaMontagne has one sound and it's getting tiresome. Occasionally he'll try something new like on 'As Black As Blood Is Blue', but it usually never works. Not to say this album is bad, it's just we've been hearing roughly the same songs for 15 years.

Favorite Tracks: Such a Simple Thing, To the Sea

Least Favorite Track: As Black As Blood Is Blue
Look, LaMontagne is at his best with storytelling ballads and comfortable folk riffs. It's not that he can't range out, it's that he's not as good at it as he is at what other reviewers unkindly refer to as his shtick. In any event, this album has a few too many misses and not enough hits to make up for it.
