Metal Sucks

The Great Cessation, YOB’s 2009 return from the dark days of Middian, will remain a personal favorite for its ever-spiraling darkness, but Our Raw Heart is that coarse greatness evolved toward perfection.

Metal Injection
It's a powerful and cathartic release that will most likely make an appearance on plenty of year-end “best of 2018” lists.
These seven songs -- totaling some 73 minutes -- are some of the most trying and beautiful material to emerge from extreme music in some time. This is doom metal possessed of hope, but it's still write large with damaging guitar riffs, pummeling bass throb, and thundering drums that stretch the metal subgenre to the breaking point.

Overall, this is YOB in their purest form. No tricks, no gimmicks, and of course, no bullshit. YOB is comfortable in their own skin, and making their most honest music to date with Our Raw Heart.

YOB wield unbridled metal muscle and disarming openness as if they were an obvious combination.
I recommend this LP to any fan of metal music and especially to those who are into the trio’s music. This is one of their best releases so far and I can’t wait to hear more from them as soon as possible.
Rolling Stone
The feel-good deathbed record of the summer.

The songs do not cohere with the same kind of symmetry as those on Clearing the Path to Ascend did ... but the band's three musicians have history and an evident chemistry that clearly affords them creative flexibility without sacrificing consistency.

'Our Raw Heart' feels like YOB at their most accessible; the album is still crushingly heavy, but offers pockets of openness and breathability that results in an album filled with emotionally dizzying heights and crushing lows.

Favourite tracks: Lungs Reach, Original Face
This album has the making of creating something that could be great but falls flat on its face. Every song on here is drawn out to its limits it could really benefit from cutting everything down. Also when there is lyrics you can barely understand what he is saying so. Sadly I cant connect with really anything on here with the exception on one song that I would recommend for it’s instrumental work
The atmosphere on the album is amazing.
There's nothing interesting about the new YOB album.
