The Line of Best Fit

Two Parts Together could be used to reference both dualities present here, that of the physical/metaphysical and the loud/quiet dynamic to Big Ups’ sound. Regardless of which one you choose, the band balance both almost to perfection, presenting both a musical and thematic journey that comes together to create a singular exhilarating experience.

Big Ups are never going to be a band that is taken to heart by the commercial masses, yet ‘Two Parts Together’ is an album that deserves a wide audience. For many, its unyielding bleakness will be too much. For others, it will be the appropriate soundtrack for the fractured world we find ourselves in.

PopMatters

Big Ups have created another substantial record in their discography. The two parts the album's title are referring to could be lightness and darkness; hope and fear; loudness and quiet. Nevertheless, there are more than two parts that make Two Parts Together impactful.

Northern Transmissions

With ‘Two Parts Together’ Big Ups have crafted a record that exposes a relatable, human feeling of uncertainty but in doing so it projects a togetherness.

Loud and Quiet
As its own title might suggest, ‘Two Parts Together’ is an often searing investigation into everything seemingly intangible, a journey into a fascinating metaphysical realm.

Wow this sucked.

Nothing about this was redeeming or memorable to me in any way. I mean this really was a snoozefest not only until the last two tracks did things start to pick up. I don't know how this can be labeled as punk I found this soooo underwhelming.

For starters i didn't hear any vocal effort on most of these tracks which made it difficult to grasp. Everything else is bland and colorless to me. The guitar, bass, and drum performance was barely even there. This album has no ... read more

It goes without saying, Big Ups are one of the most exciting bands currently in Post-Hardcore. And on paper, there's nothing genuinely wrong with this album. But it's been like 3 or 4 years, where is all the content? This album is barely a half hour, and that's with a few really awkward interludes. When this album is running at full power, this may just be the most intense Hardcore material you'll hear all year. But I can't help but just want more.

Big Ups' 'Two Parts Together' is an exhilarating ride. The album contrasts raw energy and melancholic quietness perfectly to produce a compelling experience.
