“Cosmic Wink” is a lovely folk record that sounds pretty at all times, but stands out because Jess Williamson refuses to be constrained by this prettiness. Even though “Cosmic Wink” is not particularly dark lyrically, the midtempo tracks are enhanced by some gloomier psych-folk guitars that give her an extra edge. It sounds a bit like Angel Olsen Lite, which is worth a bit, and then a bit a less when you catch on.
