There is always some serene special nature to an artist's final work in their old age. At seventy-one years of age, Prine was strong enough through his battles with cancer to release original material for the first time in over a decade. His voice is weathered and weak, but his lyricism is still just as witty and original as it was fifty years prior. That he was able to maintain his outlook for all that time and translate it into his body of work is worth high praise in its own right.
