Almost unbearably catchy, The Aces’ debut is nothing less than bloody brilliant.
Solid pop production enhances their traditional rock band set up, universal twenty-something angst, beguiling. Emotions aren’t coddled, but there is warmth that permeates throughout the record.
It seems The Aces have achieved their goal however, to escape the indie clichés attached to pop bands using guitars, and have created a fully-fledged pop scorcher.
In all, When My Heart Felt Volcanic is a breezy, fun debut, but The Aces hardly stray from the road well-travelled.
Great debut album from the Aces. I love the youthful energy of the songs that fits the subject explored in the album. The album has no dull moment and each song feels like a lead single and I love that. I like that they didn't try to do too much on the album in terms of their sound because the cohesiveness is great. Definitely a fan now. The weakest track for me was Hurricane but even that had great build up. Hope they get the recognition they deserve.

Another fun album for fun people. I dont find this album to be generic. Its full of energy and poppy. I actually prefer this record over their newest, Under My Influence.
