Give in to the storm.

That’s the message of the opening song from JORD, MØL’s genre-revitalising full-length debut. “Give in to the storm now,” repeats vocalist, Kim Song Sternkopf, first screaming over colossal slabs of guitar, then growling mutedly through static over ambient tremoling. Møl's 'Jord' is a stunning black metal/shoegaze album. It doesn't offer anything groundbreaking, but shows the bands undeniable talent whilst also showing how utterly enjoyable this music style can be when done well. Møl has a perfect blend of beauty and aggression in their songs, with the dreamy atmosphere developed through their post-rock strumming, before the pummeling drums and riffs kick in, accompanied by Sternkopf's excellent vocal performance. While Møl do indeed wear their influences on their sleeves, and don't do anything groundbreaking with this record, what they have created with it is a solid album.

The production is fantastic, the dynamic between the quiet and loud elements of the songs hit hard and the post-rock type crescendos, chord progressions and melodies are executed very well.
